Low calorie yet delicious!

January 6th, 2016

Nom nom nom nom.

So I find that I have no energy this week. Sure, there was the incident Monday where I essentially didn't get any sleep. That and not getting much more over the next few nights probably didn't help, either. Though, in all likelihood, my current diet is contributing to my being all petered out. Don't get me wrong, the food I'm eating is absolutely top notch - I'm just heavily metering my calories.

I am doing this because my doctor said that my blood sugar was a bit high, which I found disconcerting. After all, I'm eating better than I have in decades as it is! The diabetes lurks around the family tree on one side, however, so I figure I should get my act together before I develop one of those Wilford Brimley walrus 'staches and start to pimp medical supplies on late night commercials.

The side effect of all this, of course, is that I'm actually losing weight for once. I've been in a detente with the scale for well over a year, it not having budged much either way. Perhaps someday I'll actually get my weight back to what it was while I was in high school. That'd be nice. The goal is to actually get it back to where it was while I was in junior high school, but you know.

Baby steps.

I've made it three days in a row, so far, without 'cheating' at all. I've managed to eat almost exclusively unprocessed foods, save for the glaring exception of my 35 calorie per slice Nickles ™ bread, so that's a good start, right? The assumption is that I'll adjust to bringing in this much energy quickly enough, so I'm not too worried. But in the meantime, it's a bit of a drag.
