Premier Ball, I choose you!

April 10th, 2016

Go figure, the plainest one is my favorite.

Disclaimer: I'm a nerd. Anyway.

As I have the last few months, I felt the need to remind all y'all that there's a freebie Pokémon giveaway going on this month. As was the case last time around, you don't even have to go into the Gamestop store to get your latest free Pokémon. That's right, for the second month in a row, all you have to do is fire up your 3DS and connect to the Internets via your Pokémon cartridge, and bam!

Get you a Jirachi!

What can I say, I like me free things. What's wrong, however, is that I find myself craving the associated toy that they're currently selling at Toys Arrh Usss. It's completely inexplicable, but I always liked the all-white Pokéballs that were premiered in that game, the Premier balls, and made a point of using them inordinately. Even when it made catching things a lot, lot harder.

This is one of those dreadful tendencies that has carried through in subsequent Pokémon games. The ultimate punchline of this was, when attempting to catch the ultimate critter in Pokémon SoulSilver, Lugia, I ran out of all my other balls - save for one Premier ball. On a lark, before I prepared to flip the reset switch and try again, I flung my Premier ball at something it shouldn't have worked on.

And yet, I caught me a Lugia with it.

That critter is one of my all-time favorite Pokémon now, and I have been using him as much as I can, since you can now flow all your beasties forwards from one game to the next, thanks to the Pokébank program. This special 3DS thing lets you 'pool' Pokémons from all your 3DS games (I think, anyway?) to disperse them amongst your other cartridges at your leisure. And thus, Lugia crushes all my foes in all my games.

Because, well, why not?
